Choosing Mera Peak as a climbing destination is a rational decision of any climbers as the peak offers rewarding view of various mountains. It is popular for its unparalleled scenic beauty. The astounding beauty of Mount Everest, Kanchanjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho-oyo and many other mountains capture your heart.

Located in Khumbu Region, the altitude of the peak is 6,416m from sea level. Regulus recommends physical fitness and mental toughness before experiencing Mera Peak.

The journey to Mera Peak is quite stimulating as you will be enjoying picturesque view and culturally rich villages on the trail. The greenery and winding rivers will make the trail pleasant.   

Mera Peak is located near Island Peak in southeast direction. Access to Mera Peak is a bit difficult than other peaks. It is regarded as highest peak for climbing in Nepal.

The use of ropes, crampons, ice axe among other equipments is common while climbing Mera Peak. The crossing of a glacier with open crevasses and climbing fixed line by the use of jumar makes the climbing more exciting and thrilling.

The final portion of Mera Peak climbing is somewhat challenging where you need to show excellent level of climbing techniques and fitness level. The summit is of around 13 hours which starts during night or midnight. The sunshine and blowing wind in the peak during day time makes the climbing impossible so climbers summit at night.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival in Kathmandu Regulus Treks & Expedition receives you at Tribhunvan International Airport and drive you to hotel. If your arrival is at appropriate time then you can enjoy leisurely walk in the streets of Thamel. It is a prime destination for foreigners. It is said that Kathmandu visit is incomplete without strolling in this part of the city. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 02Flight to Lukla Trek to Paiya (Chutok) Early in the morning after breakfast we drive to Tribhuvan Domestic Airport and from here we catch flight to Lukla. It is around half an hour scenic flight to Lukla. We land in Hillary-Tenzing Airport. It is one of the best airstrips of the world. Here we meet other crew members who will be supporting and assisting us throughout the way. Paiya is our today’s last destination. We reach here after four hours walk from Lukla. Her we put off at night.

Day 03Trek to Pangkoma We cross bridge and head towards Pangkoma. It is a bit tough path till Kari La Pass. On the later part of trail today we cross through rhododendron forests. En route we get beautiful view of Dudh Koshi Valley and Dudh Kunda Mountain.

Day 04Trek to Nigmsa (Shibuche) It is steep downward trail today.we pass through woods, Mani walls, hills and ridges viewing snow-capped peak of Mera Peak South above us. We arrive at pine forests and from here we walk downwards to Nigmsa where we will spend night.

Day 05Trek to Chetrakhola It is a rocky trial that we will follow today. We pass through rhododendron and bamboo forests. We go through uphill path crossing forests to arrive at Chhatra Khola. Here we spend night.

Day 06Trek to Kothe We will be walking at ridge above Hinku Valley. We get nice views of surrounding environment especially, bamboo and pine woods. We arrive at Tashing Dingma. From here we choose path to Kothe where we will halt at night.

Day 07Trek to Thagnag We walk along the ridge of Hinku River to reach Gondishung. We pass through Lungsumgba Monastery. Furtehr uphill walk will bring us at Thagnag where we will put off at night.

Day 08Acclimation Day at Thagnag It is rest day today. To adjust body temperature with increasing altitude we need rest. This wil help in avoiding altitude sickness. We visit nearby places today. You can also visit Charpate Himal glacier.

Day 09Trek to Khare It is relatively short trek today. We walk on wind swept area crossing dig glacier. It is slippery path due to melted snow. We pass Dig Kharka and take uphill walk to Hinku Nup and Shar Glaciers to Kahre. We will spend night at Khare.

Day 10Trek to Mera Base Camp It is a walk on rocky path today. We will walk for around four hours to reach Mera Base Camp. We lunch at Base Camp and engage ourselves on practicing climbing which we will perform soon.

Day 11Trek to High Camp We reach High Camp from Mera Peak Base Camp. It is an ardous trail of around five hours. After arriving at High Cmap we will start preparing for tomorrow’s trail.

Day 12Trek to Summit/Back to Base Camp You will realize your dream today. We wake up early in the morning at around 2 am. We take breakfast and start climbing. We have to be very careful ad the trail is it tricky. We catch rope and move ahead. From summit we get majestic view of Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Nuotse, Kanchanjunga, Makalu, Baruntse, Amadablam and other mountains. It is a kind of heavenly experience that is not expressed in words. After spending few hours here we get back to High Camp. We will enjoy our victory at High Camp.

Day 13Trek to Khare It is a beginig of return trip from summitting. Followign rocky path we arrive at Khare. It takes around four hours to arrive at Khare. We will put off here tonight.

Day 14Trek to Kothe We follow descend trail to Hinku Valley. It further leads to Kothe. We get fantastic views of several moutains. We will spend night at Kothe.

Day 15Trek to Thuli Kharka We follow steep path to the western part of Hinku Valley. After couple of hours of walk we arrive at vantage point. From here we get nice view of Mera Peak. We follow path to Thuli Kharka where we will put off at night.

Day 16Trek to Lukla After two hours of walk from Thuli Kharka we arrive at Zatrwa La pass. From here we get beautiful view of Lukla valley, Cho Oyu, Numbur Mountain and other peaks before getting down to Chutanga. We will spend night at Lukla.

Day 17Fly back to Kathmandu Early in the morning after breakfast we catch flight to Kathmandu. It is a scenic flight of around 30 minutes. In Kathmadu you get time to stroll around Thamel. Here you can purchase gifts for your friends and family. Regulus will offer farewell dinner at night. You will spend night in a hotel.

Day 18Back to your country Your trekking ends here today. We will drop you at airport three hours earlier to schedule flight. We are thankful to you as you gave us opportunity to serve. See you soon!
