About Ghorepani Poon Hill Ghandruk Trek

Ghorepani - Poon Hill Trek via Ghandruk is a perfect trek for people who prefer short yet enjoyable treks. This expedition offers a diversity of superb natural beauty from Ghorepani Poon Hill tower at 3210 meters. You will see the fabulous views of the ‘Fishtail’ Machhapuchhre (6,993m), Annapurna I (8,091m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Annapurna South (7,219m) and numerous other peaks.

Ghorepani Village, Myagdi District 

The name Ghorepani in Nepali means horse water as this place is a significant campsite for traders before it became a trekkers' stop. Ghorepani is an attractive place with small shops and stalls for selling local products and crafts. To catch the wonderful magnificence of sunrise over the Himalayas, the trek makes an early morning climb along the steep trail to the viewpoint of Poon Hill (3,200m). Poon Hill (3,210m/10,529ft) is a great position from where you will enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the Mustang and Pokhara valley. You will also get the chance to view the more than twenty highest mountains including the close-up views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. From the South-East direction, it can normally be reached by foot from the village of Birethanti in about 10 hours depending on the trekker. From the North-West direction, Ghorepani can be reached in about 8–10 hours starting from Tatopani. 

Poon Hill From Pokhara

Poon Hill is a hill station that is popular for viewing sunrise and sunset. The picture-perfect scene of sun rays falling on the surface of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri cannot be described in words. This trek is also popular with the name 'Annapurna Sunrise Trek'. Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek starts from the village on the river bank of the Modi River after a short drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. The journey from Ghorepani to Poon Hill distance is 1.5 km 0.9 miles. hiking time requires 1 hour of ascent.

The best time to go for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is February to May, which is pre-monsoon in Nepal. Also, the autumn season which falls from September to December is to a lovely time to make a trek to Ghorepani Poon Hill.

Day 1: Kathmandu to Pokhara-Nayapul / Trek to Ulleri (2,070m)

We will leave Kathmandu taking a morning flight of 8:50 am to Pokhara (25|30 mins. Flight), & then direct from the Pokhara airport we will take a drive to Nayapul (1 &1|2 hr drive).Our trek starts from here, having lunch at Biredhati trek to Ulleri starts. (4|5 hrs).Overnight stay at Ulleri (Purnima Lodge, with attach bathroom). 

    From Ulleri our trek starts to Ghorepani (3-4 hrs), a beautiful village located at a ridge top.Overnight stay at Ghorepani (Moon Light Lodge).

      The day starts with an excursion to Poon Hill, from where you can enjoy a panaromic view of Mt.Dhaulagiri, Mt.Manaslu & Annapurna, back to Ghorepani & trek to Tadapani (6|7 hrs) overnight stay at Tadapani ( Fishtail lodge).

        We trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk, a traditional village inhabited mostly by Gurung peoples. (3|4 hrs trek) Overnight stay at Ghandruk (Monalisa lodge).

          Early in the morning our trek starts to Nayapul (3|4 hrs.) & ends with a 1 hr drive to Pokhara. We will reach Pokhara nearly 2 pm onwards.
