From Kathmandu, we will drive to Bagarchhap, where the trek starts. Following a well-made highway with scenic views, we will drive to Dumre. From here, the road gets bumpy till Besisahar. Further, we will continue the ride to Bagarchhap via uneven hillsides. On the way, we will see views of mountains like Annapurna, Fishtail, and Lamjung Himal.

The trail continues from Phu to Nar. It is a steep, vertical climb from Phu to Nar village. On the way, we will trek past many stupas and chortens. The trail takes us to Nar Phedi. From here, we will cross a suspension bridge over the Labse river and ascend to Nar. In this village, we can see women weaving woolen clothes and taking their cattle for grazing.

We will cross the Kang La pass on this day. The trail from Nar gradually ascends towards the top of the pass. The route is uphill and rocky. Further, the trail steeply descends and continues to Ngawal village for the night stay.

For the Nar Phu Valley trek with Tilicho Lake, three permits are needed. They are the Nar Phu Valley Restricted Area permit, Annapurna Conservation Area permit, and TIMS card. You can trek freely with him as he will take care of all the accommodations and help you interact with the locals. Likewise, the porter will carry your duffel bags during the trek. Keep your duffel bag weight limit under 9 kg and daypack under 5 kg.

Porters make the trek a bit easier for you because you do not have to carry those heavy bags while navigating tricky, steep tracks. At the end of the trek, we highly recommend you tip both the guide and porter.

Attached washrooms are rare, and you may have to use squat toilets in most places, so be prepared for that. Make sure you have packed all the toiletries, including toilet paper.

In meals, you will have dal bhat, thukpa, thenduk, momo, burgers, pasta, Tibetan bread, chapati, porridge, soups, pancakes, toast, eggs, oatmeals, etc. We highly recommend packing ample energy bars, nuts, and snacks for the journey. Likewise, you will get boiled drinking water throughout the trail.
