About Janakpur Tour

Located in the south eastern plains of Nepal, Janakpur holds a sacred position for Hindus. Renowned as the birthplace of goddess Sita, Janakpur was the capital city of the kingdom of Videha. King Janak, from whom the name of the city is derived, was the king of Videha and Sita was his daughter. The much read and revered Hindu epic of Ramayana chronicles the life events of Janak and Sita. As such, Janakpur attracts huge number of Hindu devotees every year.

Our guided tour will take you to some of the most iconic landmarks of Janakpur. The highlight of the tour is certainly the imposing Janaki Mandir, the architecture of which is a combination of Rajput and Mughal styles. Janakpur is also one of the major cultural centers of the Mithila region. You will find numerous places in Janakpur that will bear testament to the rich culture of the Maithali people.
