    Annapurna Base Camp - a trekker's dream!

With its diverse geography, rich culture and world renowned mountains, Nepal is one of the most popular destinations for many Westerners. My son had told me great things about the country and its people. Being an avid trekker, it was rather unusual that I had never been to Nepal. This summer, I finally took off to Nepal thanks to my son who arranged for the whole trip and boy was I surprised!Nepal is every bit as fascinating and intoxicating as I had heard from myriads of people who had been there. Right from the time we landed in Kathmandu, I felt like I was transformed into a place and time that is insulated from the rest of the world as we know it. For sure, Kathmandu is a city that has probably witnessed one of the most rapid urbanization in recent decades but there is still that something inherently quaint about the place. After a two day stay in Kathmandu, our father-son team finally hit off for our main destination – the renowned Annapurna Base Camp or ABC as it is popularly known. We chose this route for precisely two reasons. One, because my son had already travelled along this route and second, I wanted something less exhausting and something more laid back.Annapurna Base Camp trekking takes you along some of the most varied landscape in such a short time period. The great Annapurna range with the magnificent Annapurna and the beautiful Machhapuchhre are almost always in eyesight. The viewpoint of Poon Hill was one of the highlights of the trip. Listening to the stories and myth related to the mountains and the society from our guides and more seasoned fellow trekkers gave us a glimpse into the age old relation the people here have established with the mountains and their geography. We walked for more than ten days but both my son and I wished we could continue for few more days.It would be gross injustice if we did not mention the tremendous hospitality, care and support provided by our awesome trekking company, Regulus Treks. Regulus Treks not only provided us with the best Annapurna Base Camp trekking package, they also made every effort to make sure that we had the absolutely best service all along our stay in Nepal. The lodges we stayed in and the food that we were served there was always top quality. Regulus has also employed some of the friendliest and most knowledgeable people as their guides and not once did we get the feeling that we were being ripped off. Regulus Treks is a big reason why our father-son team had such a great time traversing the famous Annapurna Base Camp. We hope they continue to be as professional and caring towards their clients.

Great Himalayas - great hike with great people

Our first correspondence with Regulus Treks took place almost two months before we set our foot in Nepal. It turned out to be one of the best decisions we have made. Right from the email correspondence to our arrival, treks and departure, the team at Regulus Treks made sure that our comfort and experience were never compromised. Our group comprised of a few friends, all but one of whom were first time visitors to Nepal. Along with the thrill and excitement of exploring unknown terrains, some of us also had few anxious moments. We had planned well in advance so we wanted to choose the best season to explore the Everest Region. We established our first contact with Ms Ruby from Regulus Treks. We couldn’t have hoped for a better guidance. She was the one who suggested we choose the month of October for trekking along some of the most popular routes in Nepal. Nepal is surprisingly rich in natural diversity for a country of its size. So the best months to trek may differ according to the altitude and geography. Since we had decided on Everest Region Trekking we landed in Nepal at the beginning of October.Regulus has recruited some of the most hospitable people. Ever since we landed at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, Regulus Treks took complete care of our total needs, queries and doubts. We were quite surprised that we had got one of the most reasonable, if not the best trekking package while we had booked with Regulus. As such, we had lingering thought that service may be compromised in some way. On the very first day, all such misgivings were removed when we witnessed the genuine care and concern of the people at Regulus. Our trek started once we landed at Lukla Airport. The weather, the views, the fun and camaraderie that we shared among us and with our guides will live with each of us forever. Everest Region is blessed with one of the most beautiful landscapes and it was simply amazing to make your through the trails while some of the biggest mountains of the world stood behind you, as if watching your back. The mountains were formidable yet beautiful, the terrain unknown but friendly. Our guides added so much more to our experience. They had in depth knowledge about the whole of the Everest/Khumbu region and the mostly friendly, cheerful and helpful way of dealing with their clients. We couldn’t have had as much fun during our stay in Nepal without the great service that Regulus Treks provided us. Nepalese are friendly people by nature. Regulus Treks has blended this friendliness with professionalism. We are more than happy to refer them to any visitors to Nepal who want to get the most affordable trekking packages, with the best hospitality and service.
