The classic 13-day Jomsom Muktinath Trek will precede you to the gateway of "Forbidden Kingdom of Mustang". The focal point of this trek is its itinerary along with the grandeur Kali Gandaki River Gorge. Altitude is relatively low in this trek. In this trekking you will get once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to seek and explore scenic beauties of the different landscapes along with glimpse of the hundreds of years old monastery, caves and local tribes.
The trekking route from Jomsom to Muktinath takes you through Tatopani, Jomsom, Kagbeni, Dhaulagiri Glacier, Tibetan Plateau on the way to the holy Hindu pilgrimage site of Muktinath (3800m/12,464 ft) and entry point of upper Mustang Region. Muktinath is the prominent pilgrimage spot for both Hindu and Buddhist. To the Hindu, Muktinath is a blessed as the place of salvation. They consider the water here assures salvation after death. To the Buddhist it is the place that the great sage Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) meditated at. This place is also the source of fossilized ammonites, known locally as shaligrams.
The expedition begins from Pokhara. The nest stopover is Tatopani, where you can enjoy the hot springs. Along the Kaligandaki valley and beautiful hill villages of Tukche and Marpha another spot is Jomsom. North of Jomsom the trek passes through Mustang and lastly reaches Muktinath.

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival in Kathmandu Regulus Treks & Expedition receives you at Tribhunvan International Airport and drive you to hotel. If your arrival is at appropriate time then you can enjoy leisurely walk in the streets of Thamel. It is a prime destination for foreigners. It is said that Kathmandu visit is incomplete without strolling in this part of the city. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 02Kathmandu sightseeing From the second day of your arrival starts our trip mission. Today you visit Kathmandu, also known as city of temples with our guide. Basically there are four major touring sites in Kathmandu. They are: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swoyambhunath Stupa and and Bouddhanath Stupa. And the main part is these all four sites are listed in World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You will be introduced to your guide by Regulus. You can have good conversation with him regarding the upcoming trip. You can enjoy the night life of Thamel which completely depends on your wish. Overnight in Thamel
Day 03Fly or drive to Pokhara/Trek to Tikhedhunga We can fly or drive to Pokhara Normally, we ride on Prithivi Highway along Trishuli River. The view is really nice. The scenic beauty of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Mountain ahead of you simply symbolizes that you are about to approach the City of Lakes—Pokhara. On this very day we drive to Nayapul. It is one and half hour drive distance from Pokhara and we arrive here by bus or private vehicle. Tikhedhunga is at around four to five hour walk in distance from Nayapul. Our trekking begins from this point—Nayapul. Crossing pine forests and enjoying landscapes we arrive at Tikhedhunga where we put off at night.
Day 04Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,855 m) 5/6 hour walk We start ascending after breakfast and Ulleri is our first stop of the day. Magar are inhabitants of Ulleri. Banthanti is our next destination. Couple of hours further will bring us at Nangethanti and Ghorepani is few distance away from here. We accommodate at Ghorepani.
Day 05Ghorepani to Tatopani It takes six hours at maximum to arrive at Tatopani from Ghorepani. Our trail begins after breakfast. We cross pine and fir forests and on the way we witness few loosely settled villages. Magar and Gurung are local inhabitants of the place. English meaning of Tatopani is hot-spring. The springs here are at hot state naturally and it is believed that taking bath here will cure several skin diseases. You can enjoy hot bath here. We spend night at Tatopani.
Day 06Tatopani to Ghasa It is around six hours trail today. We follow silent course passing through lush green vegetation and hills. The hills look beautiful if it is rhododendron blooming time. The hills dotted by red rhododendron will capture your heart. Enjoying scenic beauty and easy walk we finally arrive at Ghasa where we will stay overnight.
Day 07Ghasa to Marpha Marpha is popular for apples. Local people here brew apple wine and many tourists enjoy wine here. The beauty of trail is that you witness different ethnic group and enjoy their peculiar culture and this will fascinate you. The view of Nilgiri Himal from Marpha is mesmerizing. We stay overnight at Marpha.
Day 08Marpha to Kagbeni Kagbeni is five hours on foot from Marpha. We walk along Kaligandaki River. We encounter several Thakali villages here as they are popular for cooking Nepali cuisine. Their hospitality is remarkable. We Put off at Kagbeni.
Day 09Kagbeni to Muktinath After breakfast we move towards Muktinath. We try to cross Jomsom as soon as possible because later blowing wind can ruin our trail. There are few monasteries in Jharkot and it is entrance gate to Upper Mustang. The Tibetan Refugee Camp is another place to see here. Passing all these things finally we arrive at Muktinath. Lord Vishnu is worshipped at Muktinath Temple. The word Muktinath means Lord of Salvation. It is said that a glimpse of Muktinath will free you from the chain of birth and death. Jwala Mai Temple is another site to visit here. A flame is worshipped here. The flame is burning here since millennium. The temple is regarded as female energy. The 108 taps in Muktinath is really beautiful to see. Pilgrims take bath of all these taps before paying visit to the temple. We stay overnight at Muktinath.
Day 10Muktinath to Jomsom Early in the morning after breakfast we walk towards Jomsom. We walk along the bank of Kaligandaki River. It is a pleasure walking here. The scenic beauty and picturesque view of the area will drive you crazy. In Jomsom you can purchase gifts for your families and friends. The place is popular for local wine. We will spend night at Jomsom.
Day 11Jomsom to Pokhara by flight Early in the morning after breakfast we catch flight to Pokhara. It is a scenic flight of around 20 minute. You will enjoy mountains from the comfort of plane. In Pokhara you will get some time to roam around. You will visit Gupteswor Cave, Mahendra Cave, Davi’s Fall and enjoy boating in Phewa Lake. Evening walk at lakeside is full of pleasure. You put off at a hotel in Pokhara.
Day 12Drive to Kathmandu We get back to Kathmandu after breakfast. We will ride on a bus following Prithvi Highway which we followed earlier. In Kathmandu you get time to enjoy Thamel. You will spend night in a hotel.
Day 13International departure Your trekking ends here today. We will drop you at airport three hours earlier to schedule flight. We are thankful to you as you gave us opportunity to serve. See you soon!
